SUMMARY:Advent Carol Service
DESCRIPTION:As Advent begins\, join us for our Advent Carol Service\, a beautiful and atmospheric journey from darkness into light as we prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ. \nThrough scripture\, poetry and music\, the service traces the great themes of Advent – hope\, expectation\, longing and promise – beginning in darkness and gradually filling the church with light. \nWith readings and choral music sung by the Choir of St Paul’s Knightsbridge\, we look towards the joy of Christmas while reflecting on Christ’s coming into the world. \nA beautiful way to mark the beginning of the Advent season and to find a moment of stillness amid the growing bustle of Christmas\, this service is followed by mulled wine and mince pies. All are welcome.

SUMMARY:Holst Singers - Pierre Vilette: a centenary celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Holst Singers and Stephen Layton MBE celebrate the centenary of Pierre Villette with an evening exploring the richness and colour of French choral music. Villette’s motets combine flowing melodies with sumptuous harmonies\, creating music of remarkable warmth and intimacy. This selection offers an opportunity to discover a distinctive composer whose work deserves to be heard more widely. \nAlongside Villette’s music\, the programme features the UK premiere of David Briggs’s Mass for men’s voices and organ\, with Edward Picton-Turbervill joining the choir on organ and piano. Franck’s Panis Angelicus and Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine bring familiar favourites to the evening\, while Lili Boulanger’s Hymne au soleil offers a vivid contrast to the programme’s sacred works.
