Walsingham Pilgrimage

4-6 July 2025

You are warmly invited to join Bishop Michael Colclough on a weekend pilgrim retreat to The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham where, amid the rolling hills of north Norfolk, we will join in the worship and prayer of this holy place, explore the history of the Shrine, and reflect on the place of the Virgin Mary within our church tradition.

Why leave the metropolis for a small Norfolk village?

We will follow in the footsteps of pilgrims who, for nearly a thousand years, have visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. There will be opportunities to meet and worship together as the St Paul’s Pilgrim Group, as well as with pilgrims from other parishes. We will discover the village, the remains of the ancient abbey, the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Shrines. There will be time to enjoy the Shrine’s beautiful gardens where we will walk the Way of the Cross, join others in procession, visit and taste the waters of the Holy Well. In free time, you may enjoy walks in the beautiful fields and woods surrounding the Shrine, and share a drink in the bar in the evening. You may take part in as little or as much of the group activities as you like: it’s your pilgrimage time to use as you want.

Accommodation & Meals

Full board accommodation will be provided within the Shrine Grounds in simple, comfortable rooms – single, twin, double, and family rooms are available. Ground floor rooms are available for pilgrims who require level access. All of the buildings have comfortable lounges, with tea and coffee making facilities. Meals will be taken in the Refectory.

Dates and duration

Our collective commitment is to assemble on the afternoon of Friday 4th July, and the pilgrimage will formally end late afternoon on Sunday 6th July. It may be possible to stay for longer should you wish – do ask for more details when you make your reservation.

Getting there

A group transport option via coach will be offered once the number of pilgrims is confirmed. Pilgrims may opt to make their own way by car (NB Car parking in the village is limited, but there is a public car park with daily charge). Due to the remoteness of Walsingham (and the unreliability of trains at the weekends!) we do not recommend travel by public transport.

Cost

Two nights’ accommodation, full board from Friday supper to Sunday lunch, and Pilgrim Manual (transport not included):

  • Adults: £230.00
  • Children (5-16): £115.00
  • Children under 5: No charge

How to book your place

Places are limited, and so we encourage you to register your interest and reserve your place as soon as possible, and by 15th January 2025 at the latest. A non-refundable deposit of £50 will be required to secure your booking.
